BLOOD TEST · SMART CARE POLYCLINIC, DEIRA
HIV Test explained
A 4th-generation blood test for HIV, routine in pregnancy and confidential.
Order it on its own, or build your own blood test profile — 4 or more tests save up to 30–50%.
What the HIV Test measures
This test looks for both HIV antibodies and the p24 antigen, so it detects infection earlier than older tests. It is offered to every pregnant woman because treatment in pregnancy almost completely prevents passing HIV to the baby.
What the result tells you
If it's negative
No infection is detected. A test within a few weeks of a risk may need repeating later.
If it's reactive
A positive screen is always confirmed with a second, different test before any result is given.
Confidential
Results are given privately by the doctor, and care is arranged with the right specialist service.
How to prepare
- Fasting
- Not required
- Best time
- Any time of day
What can move the result
A result outside the usual range does not on its own mean something is wrong. These are the everyday explanations a doctor considers first.

Commonly: a very recent exposure, before the test can detect it. A single result is not a diagnosis. Values are read against the laboratory's own reference range and alongside your history, your symptoms and the rest of the panel — which is why every package includes a doctor to go through them with you.
At Smart Care Polyclinic, 29 Doha Centre, Al Maktoum Rd, Deira, Dubai. It is included in the All Trimester Package, the 1st Trimester Pregnancy Package, the Obstetrics Panel, or it can be ordered on its own. Walk in during opening hours or call +971 (0)4 379 3562.
