Well-Woman Check in Dubai

A well-woman check is a gynaecology visit when nothing is wrong, to keep it that way: a review of periods, contraception, symptoms and family history, an examination, a pelvic ultrasound in the consultation, cervical screening if due, and blood tests chosen for your age. A well-woman visit: examination, pelvic ultrasound in the consultation, cervical screening if due, and the blood panel chosen for your age.

What it is

What is checked depends on your age and stage. In the twenties and thirties: cycle and contraception, cervical screening from 21 at the recommended intervals, sexual health where relevant, and iron and thyroid where periods are heavy or energy is low. In the forties: the same plus perimenopausal symptoms, blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol. After the menopause: bone and heart risk, vaginal and urinary symptoms, any bleeding, and continued screening to 65.

The ultrasound is done in the room. The womb and ovaries are looked at during the consultation, which finds fibroids, polyps and cysts before they cause symptoms, and reassures when everything is normal.

Breast awareness is part of the visit. The gynaecologist examines the breasts and shows you what to look for, and arranges the mammogram at the ages and intervals recommended for you — see breast screening and mammogram for what that involves and what it costs. A well-woman check is also the natural moment to ask the questions that never seem urgent enough for their own appointment.

The blood panel

The well-woman panel bundles the tests most women need: a full blood count and iron, thyroid, blood sugar, lipids, vitamin D and hormones, drawn once and priced as a package rather than as a list. The package page shows every test. The gynaecologist adds to it where your history warrants.

Questions patients ask

Once a year for a well-woman check suits most women, with cervical screening at its own interval within that, and sooner for any new symptom.

This guide is general information, not advice about you. Symptoms overlap between conditions, and the gynaecologist's history, examination and ultrasound are what decide your assessment and treatment.
