Teeth Whitening in Dubai: What It Fixes and What It Won't

It works on natural enamel. Everything else in your mouth stays exactly the shade it is.

In-clinic whitening lifts staining that has built up in enamel from coffee, tea, smoking and time. At Smart Care it is AED 350 per session.

The single most common source of disappointment is not the treatment. It is expecting it to do something it cannot.

What whitening actually changes

Whitening agents penetrate enamel and break down the compounds causing discolouration. That works well on the gradual yellowing most people are trying to address.

It does not change the colour of crowns, veneers, bridges or fillings, because those are manufactured materials that do not respond to the agent. If you have a crowned front tooth, whitening the teeth around it will make that crown stand out more, not less.

Stains it will not lift

Discolouration caused by trauma to a tooth, by certain antibiotics taken during tooth development, or by fluorosis behaves differently and responds poorly or unpredictably. So does a tooth that has darkened after root canal treatment, which sometimes needs internal whitening instead.

A dentist should tell you this before taking payment, not afterwards.

Sensitivity, and what to expect

Temporary sensitivity to cold is the most common side effect and usually settles within a day or two. People who already have sensitive teeth are more likely to notice it, and there are ways to reduce it that are worth discussing beforehand.

Results vary with the starting shade and the cause of the staining. Anyone promising a specific shade in advance is guessing.

Making it last

Whitening is not permanent. How long it lasts depends mostly on what you drink and whether you smoke.

  • The first 48 hours matter most — avoid coffee, tea, red wine and dark sauces
  • A straw helps with cold drinks that stain
  • A professional clean before whitening gives a more even result
  • Smoking will undo it faster than anything else on this list

Common questions

How much is teeth whitening in Dubai?

In-clinic whitening at Smart Care Polyclinic in Deira is AED 350 per session. The dentist checks your existing restorations first, because whitening does not change the colour of crowns, veneers or fillings.

Will whitening work on my crowns or veneers?

No. Whitening only affects natural enamel. Crowns, veneers, bridges and fillings keep their existing shade, which is why the dentist assesses what you have before recommending it.

How long does whitening last?

It varies considerably with diet and smoking. Avoiding staining foods and drinks in the first two days after treatment, and moderating coffee, tea and red wine afterwards, extends the result.
