About the Breast Screening Package
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month — and the best time to book the check you have been putting off. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the UAE, and found early it is one of the most treatable. Screening exists to find changes before they can be felt.
What the package includes. A consultation and clinical breast examination with a female gynaecologist — your history, family history and anything you have noticed — with the imaging that suits you: a breast ultrasound, a mammogram, or both.
Ultrasound, mammogram or both? A mammogram is the screening test from 40: it is the only one that reliably shows microcalcifications, the earliest sign of some cancers. An ultrasound is often the better first test under 40, for a lump you can feel, or alongside a mammogram in dense breast tissue, where a mammogram can miss things. The doctor will advise which suits you; both together give the fullest picture.
Book for two and save — bring your mother, sister or friend: examination with ultrasound or mammogram is AED 700 for two, and with both AED 1,100 for two.
Screening is for women without symptoms. A new lump, nipple discharge, skin changes or persistent pain should be seen promptly — book a consultation rather than waiting for screening.

The doctor goes through the results with you, in the context of your risk, and tells you when your next screening is due — or what happens next if anything needs a closer look.
