About the STD 7 Screen
The STD 7 Screen covers the seven infections most often found on a routine sexual health check, including chlamydia, trichomonas and the organisms behind bacterial vaginosis. It is taken from one swab or urine sample and read by the lab, with a doctor going through the results with you. It does not include gonorrhoea, syphilis or herpes — the STD 14 Screen does.
What's included
How the test is done
Walk in
No appointment, no referral. Ask reception for a sexual health screen and you are taken straight to a private room — no explaining at the desk.
The sample
Women: a vaginal swab, a few seconds, taken by a female nurse or by you. Men: usually urine — try not to pass urine for an hour beforehand.
One sample covers everything
A wider screen is a wider look at the same sample, not more swabs.
Your results
A doctor goes through them with you privately. Nothing is discussed at reception and results go to nobody but you.
If something is positive
Usually a course of tablets, often started the same day. We will also talk through telling recent partners. Treatment is charged separately.
Not included: HIV and hepatitis
These are separate blood tests. Ask at the same visit and they are taken alongside, so you are not making a second trip.
Who it suits
Anyone wanting a sexual health check — after a new partner, after unprotected sex, before starting a relationship, or as a routine check with no symptoms at all. You do not need a reason, and you will not be asked for one.
