What is PRP Hair Restoration + Biotin?

This is standard PRP hair restoration in Deira, Dubai, with biotin added to the injection. The PRP half works exactly as it does on its own: your own blood is spun to concentrate the platelets, which are then injected into the scalp.

A meta-analysis of nine randomised trials covering 238 patients found PRP significantly increased hair density at three and six months against placebo, with no serious adverse reactions.1

What biotin adds, honestly. Biotin is a cofactor for the carboxylase enzymes used in fatty acid synthesis, and hair is genuinely affected where somebody is deficient.2 The evidence for supplementing people who are not deficient is weak, and true deficiency is uncommon on an ordinary diet.

So this is a judgement made at the consultation rather than an automatic upgrade, and a blood test can settle it. If your doctor does not think biotin will add anything for you, the plain PRP course is the sensible choice.

How it works

A small blood sample is taken and spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma. Biotin is added, and the preparation is injected into the thinning areas of the scalp with very fine needles. The session runs the same way a plain PRP session does.

Expected results

A course spaced about four weeks apart is typical, and changes in shedding and hair quality build gradually over months rather than appearing between sessions. Where biotin is correcting a demonstrated deficiency, the improvement follows the correction; where there is no deficiency, expect the PRP to be doing the work.

Who it may suit

Adults with early thinning or diffuse hair loss who still have active follicles, and who a doctor judges may benefit from the biotin component. It is not for anyone who has not had the cause of their hair loss looked into — iron deficiency, thyroid disease, a recent illness and new medications all present as shedding and none responds to the same thing.

Side effects & aftercare

Individual responses vary — the team explains everything before treatment and is one message away after it.

  • Avoid washing the scalp for the rest of the day
  • Skip intense exercise, saunas and sun on the scalp for 24–48 hours
  • Avoid harsh hair products and colouring for a few days
  • Tell any doctor arranging a blood test that you have had biotin — see the question below

Frequently asked questions

Only where the biotin is correcting something. Biotin helps hair in genuine deficiency; the evidence for giving it to people who are not deficient is weak, and deficiency is uncommon on an ordinary diet. If your doctor does not think it will add anything for you, they will say so and the plain PRP course is the sensible choice.
