Rejuran in Dubai
“My skin looks tired and creased even when I've slept”
Polynucleotide injections that work on skin quality rather than volume — assessed and delivered under DHA-licensed medical supervision at Smart Care Polyclinic, Deira.
What is Rejuran?
Rejuran is a polynucleotide treatment: purified DNA fragments, derived from salmon, injected into the skin to support its own repair processes. Because it is salmon-derived it is not suitable for anyone with a fish allergy, and it is not given during pregnancy or breastfeeding — tell us before you book if either applies.
A systematic review of nine studies covering 219 patients found polynucleotide injections reduced wrinkles and improved skin texture and elasticity, with statistically significant results in several of them and side effects that were mild and short-lived.1 The reviewers rated those nine studies low to moderate quality and called for better trials, which is the fair summary of where this sits.
It is not a filler and it does not add volume or change shape. It works on elasticity, hydration and texture — and whether that is what your skin needs is a judgement for the consultation, where a filler or a different booster is sometimes the better answer.
How it works
After numbing cream, a series of small injections places the polynucleotide gel into the dermis across the treatment area. The fragments act on fibroblasts — the cells that produce collagen and elastin — encouraging repair over the following weeks. A course of three sessions two to four weeks apart is standard, with maintenance afterwards. The under-eye protocol uses a different formulation and a more conservative technique than the full-face one.

Expected results
Nothing is visible on the day beyond the injection marks. Skin quality typically changes gradually across the course and for some weeks after it, and the fuller effect is judged two to three months from the first session rather than immediately. Under-eye results are the slowest and the most variable — anyone promising you a transformation there is overselling it.
Who it may suit
Not suitable for anyone with a fish or salmon allergy, and not given during pregnancy or breastfeeding — those are refusals, not cautions, and the doctor will ask. Beyond that it may suit skin that has lost firmness or looks crepey, and under-eye skin that is thin and finely lined rather than shadowed by volume loss. It is not the treatment for hollowing, which needs structure rather than skin quality. Suitability is decided at the consultation, and a doctor here will say so if they think it is unlikely to give you what you are asking for.
Side effects & aftercare
Individual responses vary — the team explains everything before treatment and is one message away after it.
- Expect small raised bumps at each injection point; these usually settle within twenty-four to forty-eight hours, and can take longer under the eyes.
- Bruising is common, particularly around the eyes — plan around anything important in the week afterwards.
- Keep the skin clean and bare for the rest of the day, and avoid makeup over the injection points.
- No sauna, steam, swimming or heavy exercise for forty-eight hours.
- Tell the clinic before the appointment if you have any fish or shellfish allergy — the product is derived from salmon DNA, and this is a reason not to proceed.
Frequently asked questions
No. A filler adds volume and holds a shape; Rejuran does neither. It works on the condition of the skin — elasticity, hydration, texture. The two are sometimes used together for that reason, and your doctor will tell you if what is actually bothering you needs volume rather than skin quality.
The polynucleotide fragments used are purified from salmon DNA, which is close enough to human DNA to be well tolerated and is a well-established source for this class of product. It is purified to remove protein, but if you have a fish allergy you should tell us, because that is a reason not to have it.
Usually yes, for a day or two. The gel sits in small deposits under the skin before it disperses, so you can see and feel raised points at each injection site. Under the eyes they can last longer. This is expected rather than a complication, but it does mean not booking it the day before an event.
Three sessions two to four weeks apart is the usual starting course, with maintenance after that. Your doctor will tell you at the consultation whether your skin is likely to need more, and will say so if they think the treatment is unlikely to give you what you are asking for.
